Lincolnshire Christmas Lights Switch On Guide 2025

Nothing says “Christmas is coming” quite like a good old-fashioned lights switch-on – brass bands, kids high on hot chocolate, and at least one person in a Santa hat who’s started early.

Scunthorpe – Church Square & Queen Elizabeth Memorial Gardens, Scunthorpe kicks things off early this year with a big switch-on in Church Square / Queen Elizabeth Memorial Gardens. Expect entertainers, stage acts and family-friendly activities throughout the event, all building up to the moment the lights go on and Christmas officially lands in town.

Lincoln – High Street, Head into the city for a proper Christmas moment on Lincoln High Street. At 17:00, the New Theatre Royal panto cast and special guests will be on hand to switch on the lights, bringing a bit of showbiz sparkle to the streets. Ideal if you fancy combining a spot of late-night shopping with some festive fun.

Cleethorpes – St Peter’s Avenue, Cleethorpes is going cosy and community-focused with a Christmas tree lighting event on St Peter’s Avenue between 17:00 and 19:00. Pop into the student Christmas market in the church hall, then head back out in time for the tree lights at around 18:15. Perfect for a relaxed evening with a festive feel.

Spalding – Town Centre, Spalding is going big with a full town centre takeover from 16:00. You’ll find stalls and street entertainment across Hall Place, Sheep Market car park and Market Place, all leading up to the lights switch-on at 19:15. A great choice if you want an event that runs into the evening and feels like a proper Christmas celebration.

Brigg – Christmas Market & Lights, the Christmas market and lights switch-on run from 16:00 onwards. Expect a classic festive mix of stalls, shopping and seasonal atmosphere as the town lights up for Christmas.

Epworth – Town Centre Over in Epworth, the lights switch-on starts from 17:45 in the town centre. Wrap up warm, grab a hot drink and join the crowd as the lights bring a festive glow to this historic Isle of Axholme town.

Alford – Christmas Extravaganza Alford is going all out with a Christmas extravaganza in the Market Place from 13:00 to 19:00, organised by Alford Town Promotions. Expect a full afternoon and evening of festive fun – perfect if you want more than just the countdown and switch-on.

Haxey – Memorial Hall & Illuminated Tractor Run. Haxey’s lights will be switched on after 17:00 at Haxey Memorial Hall, but there’s plenty happening around it: a fairground, stalls, raffle, Santa Postbox and an illuminated tractor run. This one’s got proper village Christmas vibes – tractors, fairy lights and all.

Winterton – Festive Market & Switch-OnWinterton is hosting an outdoor festive market between 14:00 and 20:00, with the lights switched on at 18:00. Come for the market, stay for the countdown, and soak up a long afternoon of Christmas shopping and nibbling.

Sleaford – Christmas Market & Lights, Sleaford’s Christmas market runs from 10:30 to 16:30, with the lights switch-on at 16:15. It’s a classic daytime-into-dusk event – plenty of time to browse the stalls before everyone gathers for the main event.

Grantham – Market Place & WestgateIn Grantham, festive activities run across Market Place and Westgate from 11:00 to 17:00, with the lights switch-on at 16:30. There’ll be road closures in the centre (including Market Place, Conduit Lane, Narrow and Wide Westgate, part of Guildhall Street and Welby Street) so you can wander safely and enjoy the atmosphere.

Kirton in Lindsey – Town Centre, hosts its switch-on from 15:00 across Market Place, High Street, Sylvester Street and Diamond Jubilee Town Hall, with the lights going on at 17:00. Expect a traditional, community-centred event – just the thing to get into the Christmas spirit.

Spilsby – Franklin Hall & Town Tree Spilsby’s Christmas market runs at Franklin Hall (Halton Road) between 10:00 and 17:00, with the Christmas tree lights switched on at 16:30. Make a day of it: browse the stalls, grab some festive goodies, then head to the tree for the big moment.

Belton – Lights & Live Music, Belton’s lights are switched on from 16:00, with the official switch-on at 16:30, followed by live music from 19:00 until late. Come for the lights, stay for the evening entertainment – this one’s perfect if you fancy turning your switch-on into a full night out.
